i want to sell certain items for clubs teams etc, there being a payment to the club for each item sold. Will the sales manager help me to group these sales? Ignorance time: what does a CSV file look like? I guess it's a spread sheet? Is it an excel jobbie that I can shove around to herd items together to analise/work out the payment to the club??

If yer see what i mean......

Hmm, do the clubs have their own websites? If so, you could set them up as an affliate using the affiliate manager. Then their members would click through to your website from the club website and commission would be worked out automatically.

this sounds interestng!
looking at the affiliate monitor/ it seems that I could assign an overall £%. Could I assign individual amounts per item as in a £1 for this one and £4 for that etc?
any tips on how this works in general ?

would this % be restricted to 'their' page? If the % is still in place when buying other products ( EG from somebody elses page ) the % would end up in the wrong place. Indeed i want people visiting 'their' page to wander into 'my' area and buy my products that would not entitle the club in question for a cut.

I'm not quite sure if I understand the last bit, but the Affiliate System works in the following way...

You create an affiliate for Site X which is going to be sending you customers. You give them a special link to your site which flags the customer as coming from Site X when it is used. When you view the order, you can see that it came from Site X. The commission the affiliate earns is a percentage of the order value. This can be applied only to the first purchase by the customer, or to all future purchases (on an ongoing basis).

what i want to do is:

approach various clubs to sell thier t shirts sweats etc direct from my website. I will produce the items and the club in question would get a set percentage for the items bought.
BUT
if they bought 'other' items from me that was not thier club merhandise - i do not want to pay them a percentage.
If they buy an item from a different club page that needs controlling. EG Motorcycle club person buys his clubs t shirt and then wanders around my site and buys a t shirt from a karate club page there would be two lots of commision to two different clubs. One for each.

Also if they buy a t from my own pages i want all the money and not pay any commision as the item would not be a 'fundraising' item, rather it would be a standard product.

i want to do this for as many clubs as I can get on board and need a way of controlling the commisions without employing an accountant to work through every sales report.

ummmm, any clearer?
