Has anybody had this e-mail (see below), heard of these people or have any general comments regarding this payment method.

Dear Ladies and Gentlemen

I am looking for the person responsible for online payments at www.hptonercartridges.co.uk.

We have launched our innovative payment system DIRECTebanking.com two weeks ago in the UK. It represents a major step in the UK e-payment scene as it is the first European online banking payment method in the UK.

This is how it works:
1. Customer selects DIRECTebanking.com
2. Customer selects his bank and account number.
3. Customer confirms the payment by entering his online banking information.
Within seconds a payment confirmation is then sent out to the merchant.
Please check the system on our website: www.payment-network.com.

The key benefits for online merchants:
- No charge backs
- Competitive pricing: starting 0.8% even for international payments
- Direct reach of approx. 77 million online-banking users in six countries
- Better liquidity: transfers within 0-3 days
- Easy integration due to prebuild shop modules and integration with payment service providers.

Over 10.000 eCommerce companies are already registered for our system including KLM, DELL, Tui.at, TicketOnline.de, Moneybookers, GlobalCollect, Neteller, Saferpay, Conrad and many more.

As we have just started in the UK I would like to make hptonercartridges a special offer for a limited time:
- No fixed fees for the use of our system until the 31.08.2009.
- Only £ 4.90 monthly maintenance fees starting from September
- 1% transaction fees

Please write or call me if you are interested in this offer. Of course I am happy to provide further information and to answer any questions you may have.

Hi Dave

Yes, I've just had one of these. Not had a chance to follow up on it, but I too would be interested if anyone else has heard anything?

Regards

As a consumer, I'd never give away my bank details shopping online, even if it was supposedly secure. Especially not to a new, unheard of payment company. Credit cards offer a reasonable level of consumer protection that I don't think this would.

Hi,

We got the same email yesterday, wasn't sure if it was a scam or not, but as it states it is new to the UK I am probably going to steer clear, unless someone has good info on them.

I would never give bank details over the internet so, whether or not its a good deal, I feel us Brits are not going to warm to it quickly I'm afraid.

Surely this is just a bank transfer though - the same as how google adwords used to work?

It's not that new to pay for stuff this way. Just not been introduced to general retailers yet.

Dear All

Thank you very much for your replies. I have been notified by a merchant customer on this forum here. I'd therefore like to answer any question you might have on DIRECTebanking.com First of all let me tell you, that already more than 10.000 merchants are using us in Europe. Some of them are very large: DELL Germany, KLM, Conrad.de, Emirates Airlines and many more.

In the UK we are already live at Moneybookers.com; one of the largest payment providers in Europe, by the way regulated by the FSA.
Furthermore we are already live on Unitedprint.com; one of the leading online printing companies in Europe.

The benefits of our payment method mentioned in our letter (see Dave's post) are the reason why these merchants have all signed up.

Regarding the customer acceptance we have already made very positive experiences with Moneybookers in the UK.
This has also to do with our technical and legal security measures:

a.) After many million transactions we had not one single case of identity theft yet. The main reason are the secure online banking environments. These systems always require a 2-step authentification of payment; normally a password and, for instance, a memorable information.

b.) We have been certified by the TÜV (ISO comparable) regarding data privacy and (technical) transaction security.

c.) We offer an insurance against data misuse for consumers using our system. This insurance is automaticall included in our fees and provide a strong legal protection to all customers paying with DIRECTebanking.com.

d.) Today, we not only work with Moneybookers, but also with other bank payment service providers such as Concardis (belongs to the German banks), Saferpay (Swiss banks) and with leading payment service providers such as GlobalCollect, Click&Buy, Smart2Pay, docdata payments and many others. These partners, along with the large merchant customers process more than 3 million Euro per day on our system. Of course they provide a great reference for the security as well, as they certainly could not afford using an unsecure system.

Please let me know if I can be of any further help.

Kind regards,
Andrea
