I need to pick some brains mine are frazzled today.

I would like to find out where my new customers come from, it seems I cannot add to the new account creation form this line, so any suggestions where I can add this to?

Are you using Google Analytics - you'll get a lot more info from that than from the standard 'where did you hear about us' question.

I agree with Giles. Google Analytics is probably your best option as this does give much more information about visitors to your site.

From past experience you have to give customers options when asking the 'where did you hear about us' question. You will be amazed how many people respond with comments like
On my computer
On the web
Fine thanks
Etc

Tell me about it Dave...in all my various experiences with web based companies, those answers probably make up 25% of the responses!

A lot of people seem to be bewildered by Google Analytics but it's actually pretty simple, you just have to ignore 75% of the useless stats and focus on the ones that actually mean something.

The key is to make sure you have the 'ecommerce' bit ticked...that gives you some meaningful metrics.
