Has anyone had a lot of the above spam emails lately? We have suddenly started receiving loads of them over the last couple of weeks, and have had over 2000 just today. It is more than a pain in the bum to go through checking for genuine stuff amidst that lot.

We have asked Rich several times to switch on spam filters at server level but he will not do it in case genuine messages are stopped. It is a simple thing and I'm sure Rich has the software already installed and available in his server control panel.

How many people want Spam filtered at server level? or how many people wish to buy a licence version of Bluepark to put on their own (spam filtered) server?

I am going to try the Google email filtering service soon, Google Postini, anyone ever tried it?

Morning Pete,

We have not noticed anything unusual and are just getting 20 or so spam e-mails per day which is easy to handle. If we were getting 2000 per day it would be a real pain in the ass!

Out of interest are you using e-mail catchall and are these spam e-mails being sent to non existent e-mail addresses on your domain? I can only find your e-mail address in plain text on google in two places being the Bluepark Forum & Widdlykinks.

As John says spam filters would be an excellent idea.

As mentioned to Pete we are not suffering from Spam too much at the moment but anything that stops it gets my vote!

This is something we have been interested in having since we found Bluepark many years ago so again it gets my vote.

Not tried it but from $12 per user per year it does seem very reasonably priced and if Spam does become a problem and filtering is not available on Bluepark servers may give it a try.

These emails are being sent to random-name@ourdomain.com, so not to the genuine address. If anything other than our designated addresses could be trapped, that would work for me.

Currently most of these are being trapped at our ISP server level, but we still need to go through them to look for genuine stuff, as we get a few genuine emails trapped every week. So I'm not sure what help Bluepark would provide trapping them at server level, unless they could trap anything not sent to our geniune addresses.

So you must be using a catchall to re-direct anything sent to random-names@ourdomain.com to the correct-name@ourdomain.com ?

Why not do away with the catchall? This will stop all the Spam with the exception of anything sent to your pukka e-mail addresses!

Hi Dave

I'm having a dense moment here (can't say blonde, as I'm not, and anyway this would be blondist...), but I can't see where this would be set up. I only have forwarders for info @ourdomain.com (info@ourdomain.com) and sales @ourdomain.com (sales@ourdomain.com), so I'm not sure how the rest are getting forwarded, though I'm pretty sure I remember Rich saying somewhere that this happens automatically. So I don't know how to stop it.

You enter the catch all at the top of Email Forwarders, why not set up a junk@yourdomain and send them all there? you can still look through them for genuine emails via webmail (if you really have nothing better to do!)
