View Full Version : Orders in Progress

This is probably one for Richard but I'm sure will be of interest to others.

A number of potential Customers have got as far as the Payment option and then ducked out for one reason or another so their orders are left as orders in progress. In a post somewhere I think I read that these are cleared out after 3 months as part of "housekeeping".

Is there anyway to set up to send an email (either auto or manual) to the client with possibly 2 links, one to take them to the checkout and give them the option to complete , or a second link to just cancel the order.

Thanks

That's certainly something we've considered in the past, and may be included in a future update.

Perhaps a few other forum members could indicate if they'd find it useful.

Yes I would like to see this feature, an auto email would tidy up outstanding orders and result in a few more sales that otherwise might have been missed. You could encourage the buyer with a discount or offer for completing the order and also offer an opportunity for the buyer to ask further questions about placing the order.

Any thoughts on the duration between abandoning the checkout process and receiving the "follow up" email?

I was thinking about a week maximum. Otherwise I feel the lead will go cold.

Hi
I personally have formatted an email asking them if it is an oversight etc, then copy this email and click on each customer in the order in progress page. I make a note of where I am up to, so as not to repeat this. Last month three returned with an order, so it is worth it (value was over £500)

I think a week would be good - would certainly help me. :)

Yes - we'd find it useful and I think about a week is good too.

I think 24-72 hours. Maybe the option to select one of a number of given time frames would be good. (e.g 1 day, 3 days, 7 days)

Excellent idea. I think after 7 days a nudge in the right direction may well make them come back to complete the order.

Sounds a great idea as I am sure many will have been abandoned to complete later but just forgotten. However, can I request that this be an optional email. Further, how does this sit regarding customers indicating no contact via email on registration?

Almost on the same topic, what do people think of a follow up email to customers 1 week after order despatch asking if all okay and including a link to create a product review?

This is a super idea! I was thinking exactly the same a couple of days ago but didn't want to seem too greedy with all my requests! We're desparate to encourage customers to leave reviews but very few seem to do so at the moment.

I think this would be OK if a removal option could be sent with the email

I think the 'unsubscribe' link should be a standard on the bottom of emails auto generated by the software (eg as we are discussing above) as i understand having such a link is considered best practice in the email marketing world.

Yet another request!

Agree with all the above, particularly the follow-up mail a week after dispatch and asking for either a product review or feedback. Great idea.

Excellent job, great response. I'm still as enthusiastic about this software as i was on day 1.

Thanks.

Just in case you find it annoying being copied in on these emails, you can now disable the receiving of copies in Configuration.

Rich - one of my customers who has unchecked the Allow Contact box still received one of these emails. Is it possible to stop these and the Reviews email if the user record does not allow contact?
