Sorry Adam but I have not got a clue when it comes to the likes of Facebook and Twitter. Must try and find sometime to look at this as it can be a good way of driving traffic to your sites and maybe even help with seo.

I am sure someone will be along shortly with the answers you require.

Hi Adam,

Didn't work for us I'm afraid, from a sales point of view. It generated a tremendous number of clicks (and fees!) but most looked at less than five pages and didn't buy.

May have been our fault though, choice of key words etc etc or, perhaps, we are just not offering what most Facebook users are interested in? All my nieces and nephews (very big family!) spend their lives on Facebook but few seem to use it for buying!

I'm sure it works for some though.

Hi Adam,

At the risk of being accused of being ageist... I wouldn't have thought that you would get much genuine interest from Facebook for your product. Sorry. We have a Facebook identity and do get traffic and the occasion buyer but our demographic is younger. I think you need to try to find a way in with someone like Saga... not sure if they take advertising on their site but it is the right demographic for your product. Better to get 10 extra visitors who are real potential customers than 100 who are not.

All the best

That is a very good point gill, and i wouldnt say that is ageist, although our products can be seen to be directed at the older Market we do sell to younger and disabled people so 1.200.000 over 30's x
Seeing the add may work

Good point... I had not thought of the disabled market. So on that point are there any websites/forums that direct their content at that sector? Might be worth checking out if you haven't already. Good luck with the FB ad. Let us know how it works out.

Same here - difficult to get fans on the campaign/fan page and most of them are school age. Ads just cost money, caused a surge of 'nosey' people to the site and no orders.

The fan page if used correctly can create some links to your site but that's about all it's done for us so far.
I just like Facebook for being able to keep in the loop with a lot of people I have networked with as well as some family and friends.

We tried facebook ads for our blank dvd media for a while, lots of clicks but not many buyers, costs a lot so you have to be carfull as the ££ add up.

Hey

I'm with Adrian, I used FB on a clients site using very targetted ads and no results to write home about. We spent about £10k and generated about 10 sales.

I think it comes down to the same old problem of non search advertising. People using facebook are there to chat, catch up with friends, laugh at photos - not buy. It equates to a salesman interupting you in the pub with your mates. Your not in a buying frame of mind, and just tell him to scarper.

Search advertising people are there to buy... nothing comes close to an roi than that of google and bing.

I would say don't even bother with a month!

Hope this helps

Andy

I second this - I've tried it twice, it is very expensive and had no sales from it.

I've never clicked on an ad and bought either, although I do think I've clicked on three ads that caught my interest.

I also agree that people aren't there to buy, whereas if someone is searching google they are already putting out buying signals even if they are just browsing for now.

I'll agree and add to the last few posting that I use AdWords only on the Google search results.
