Collect from store only delivery option

Hi Rich,

As part of our dealer agreement with Trek, I cannot sell bikes for delivery via carrier. They have to be collect from store only.

I need to ensure that if a Trek product is selected the customer is advised that the product is a collect from store only option.

Can you suggest anything.

I have set up a delivery code 'C' for collections but it does not seem to appear before payment is taken.

You could write it in the additional content field, then it will show above or below the price on the actual product page.

have already done that but still had customers order nad pay on paypal only to be told we can't ship to them. So nee dto make sure it appears at checkout as well.

We would like a 'Collect from Store' option too. Perhaps it could be as simple as adding a tick box at the checkout stage so that customer may select 'Collect from Store' or one of the shipping methods. It could be made a site option for those that don't need it!

With the majority of your products set to Shipping Code A, set the "Trek" products to Shipping Code C (or B would do fine also - all that matters is that it's different to A).

Set all of your existing shipping methods to "A" instead of "All", and set the Collect from Store shipping method to "All".

This means:

Normal shipping methods can ship A only (not C)
The Collect from Store shipping method can ship A and CObviously, to buy a C (Trek) product the customer will have to select the Collect from Store shipping method.

I understand your wish, but yours is a different requirement from Andy's (who wants to ensure that a certain shipping method is required for a certain product type). Your question was more one of positioning, but don't worry - we're having a think on this one as well, along with a possible solution for local delivery (based on postcodes).

There is now a Require Customer Collection field in the Shipping Editor. All this does is flash up a message in the Shopping Basket to remind the customer that the item(s) must be collected.
