View Full Version : "C" symbol for cheque pending orders

Hi,
We've noticed that there is a new "c" in a yellow star to show orders that are cheque payment pending.
The problem with this (for us) is that before, when it was just the "s" we'd be able to easily tell which had shipped and which hadn't. We sell to schools who pay after receiving the goods so we need to see what's shipped and what's not. Now, all cheque payments are displayed with the "c" whether they've been shipped or not, whcih is confusing Rachel who processes the orders!
Is there a way that we can change this back to how it was before?
Thanks!
Hi Little Linguist
It was us that requested this initially because we kept re-visiting yellow stars that were cheque payments and it was a pain.
We also have customers who pay after receiving goods, but for those we use the credit account facility, which is really what you're giving them.
Don't know if this would work for you?

The problem with the account facility for us is that the account needs to be opened and set up before they can order. We wanted to offer schools the option of selecting a way of checking-out without entering credit card information or needing to set up the account in advance.
As we don't accept cheque payments for normal orders any more (too much hassle chasing everyone up!), we just used the language manager to rename the cheque payment option to "schools invoice".
Thanks for the advice all the same!
Maybe you could call it "Schools Credit Account Request"
Then once you've established that it's a genuine school you can give them a credit account and edit the first order to change it from Cheque payment to Credit Account (I think this would work using the order editor)
Then next time they order it will use the credit account function. We prefer this because you can keep an eye on your credit balances and prevent customers from ordering too much value before they settle the balance. e.g give them a credit limit.
Do most of your schools pay up promptly?
Just to insert a comment here, it's been altered ever so slightly so that the "Shipped" icon overrides the "Cheque" icon. This is a reasonable assumption as the average retailer wouldn't ship all of the products in an order before they've received the cheque! :)
