Here is a quick and easy one for you all to do - add a facebook "like" widget to your website.

http://developers.facebook.com/docs/reference/plugins/like

Mine is on my site on the left hand side - www.icegems.co.uk (http://www.icegems.co.uk) in the "recommend to others" block.

Wonder if it's just a problem with Facebook? It's not working for me in FF, Safari or Google Chrome .

Thank you all, it seems to be an intermittented facebook problem as I have seen errors on other people's sites when "liking" them.

If any of you have added the widget let me know here and I'll like you back. I figure it can't do any harm and may help rankings a bit?

I'm using FF and have successfully 'liked' your page. Just in case you want to know, the text is slightly bigger than the space so the very bottom line is only showing the top half of the word where it says 'Me and 39 others like this'

(Edit) I just added the code to our site and got the same problem, the bottom line of text doesn't quite fit.

I tried to add to my products the XFBML of the 'Like Button' as this allows visitors to not only click the 'Like' button but also leave comments. Didn't work very well though, quite complicated to install this version and spent ages. Works ok if the visitor is currently logged into Facebook, if they're not logged in it asks them to either sign in or enter their name and email address... everytime you try and enter your name/email it defaults back to a blank field. Very weird! probably something I've overlooked. In the meantime until I figure it out I've put a button on from 'Add This' as it allow visitors to share with tons of social network sites inluding facebook, twitter ect :)

Having trawled the internet it appears that tons of people have had problems with these facebook 'Like' buttons. Sounds like it could be just a glitch with facebooks plugins themselves rather than something incorrect that we're doing :-s
