View Full Version : Holiday Shutdown
I know there are a couple of threads about how people tackle this but with all of the new features on the Bluepark system has anyone got any tips / ideas of how to handle and communicate a holiday shutdown?
We are going to be away for a couple of weeks so won't be able to fulfill any orders in that period. Any advise would be great
Thanks
Nic
It would be nice to have an option in Bluepark where you could suspend ordering and have message instead so you could say "closed for maintenance" "closed for annual holidays" etc
However, I would
1) Change your header to include "Closed for Holidays, Any Orders Placed Will Ship W/C etc"
2) Change in stock, immediate dispatch to in stock, delivery w/c etc
3) Change the delivery page to say your closed and when orders will be dispatched
4) Change the order confirmation e-mail so the first thing the customer sees is ***** WE ARE CLOSED FOR ANNUAL LEAVE. THIS ORDER WILL BE DISPATCHED W/C ETC *****
Despite doing all the above some people won't see it so be prepared for e-mails asking where's my order?
Going anywhere nice?

You can do this, go to Configuration: Payment tab and turn off all of the payment options. Checkout will be disabled, there will also be a line of text in the shopping basket which can be edited via the Language Manager.

Well you could knock me down with a feather. Still learning stuff after all these years!

I guess the only problem with doing that is that you would lose 100% of all possible sales, if you made it SUPER CLEAR that you were on holiday and that the items would be send out on the W/C "insert date here" and then hope people dont get funny when they dont read it..

I agree and my preferred method would be as per my post above. But having the option of suspending checkout is a good feature if you want to stop people ordering whether it be stocktake, holidays, maintenance or the infamous payment provider problems!
All good suggestions, thanks Dave and Adam - It think we will allow orders but make it very clear that the delivery will not happen until the following week.
Going to South Wales so hope the weather turns in the next couple of weeks.

just looked at the site, where you have the three green blocks in the centre of the main page, you could create one block and put that in there place with very obvious big writing saying your closed down for holiday and that all orders will be sent out etc...
