Monitoring Users Online

Do many store owners use the users online now tab within Site Stats?

I find this a good feature but it can sometimes be a bit depressing when people leave without ordering and even worse having put items in the basket and leave without ordering :(

It would be good if bluepark could notify us when a new visitor arrives by popping a box up down the bottom right of screen like outlook does when e-mail arrives.

Also the ability to see what pages the visitor has visited. This way when and if you invite them to chat to know what they have been looking at.

Be interested to hear what people think

We use this feature to monitor all the time and find it very interesting.

I think I might personally be a bit concerned at the thought of someone watching what I was looking at and jumping in for a chat so we've tended not to use this option.

However we do turn on the option for visitors to initiate the chat when we are at the console.

We use this all the time to monitor traffic - one of the first and last things we look at every day (sad...)

A cosmetic change to the display that would be good is to have the Page Views & Last Active columns display at the same time (rather than Page Views & First Active) as we have to keep switching view to see if the page count is going up, then switching to see if they are still active. Minor, I know.

I agree with Mike - I think you could scare people away if you started discussing with them what items they had been looking at, though it would be nice to know all the same.

One thing that would be good would be to have a configurable exit window pop-up as someone leaves the site with items still in their basket, asking for a reason (multiple selection choices like the user poll) why they haven't completed their purchase.

I tend to use the 'users online today' more than the 'online now' tab.

Actually my personal preference would be if we could set which tab is the default that comes up first - i.e for me it would automatically display the 'users online today' first, as opposed 'users online now'.

yes I can see it could be annoying especially if your site attracts a large number of visitors. If it is possible for Rich to incorporate this I am sure he would do it as an option.
