We have always sent products both on BP and Amazon as Royal Mail recorded 1st or second class, so wondered what you Amazonites think if I revert to standard postage on Amazon. I know with Ebay there is more likely a risk but Amazon seems to be a totally different clientele.

Just that with some of the competition out there we are loosing a bit on the postage stakes but I did not want to get into "not received" scenario from customers - we have not had one since doing it this way but have never tried standard postage on Amazon - what's your thoughts me asks nicely ;)

Hi Mike, We are quite new to Amazon (June this year) but have not had a serious "not received" yet. Just a couple of queries and one that turned up just as we were about to post a replacement, plus a couple of "breakages". Percentage wise, similar to BP.

As above... Not had too much of a problem.

Think you are right about the clientele bit.

We still use Recorded post (into our third Christmas season). The reason is to be able to track Royal Mail deliveries, as they do cock up every now and then. We certainly get fewer "I didn't get my parcel" claims from Amazon customers compared to eBay, but it does help if we can check whether a parcel has been delivered or not. Just today, in fact, we had a query from an Amazon customer, and through the recorded tracking number we could tell that an attempted delivery had been made, and told the customer to go collect it from their local PO.

Amazon is as big for us as our BP site - we send everything normal second class mail and have very few lost orders but then ours are small enough to fit through the letterbox. It would be too expensive for us to do recorded or special.

Thanks everyone.... good to get an idea

.... to extend this thought, does anyone bother with International recorded. We get quite a few abroad but the girl (known to us) at the post office said in her opinion it is not worth it as the recorded part of the delivery is only as good as the country you are delivering - food for thought me thinks but wondered how you guys felt about it....
