Hi All

Does anyone know how to embed video files into an item record, or if it is even possible? I want to put a short movie onto one of my product pages.

If it can be done, what's the best format (wmv, mpg etc.)?

Pete

Dear Pete,

You can add flash video files via the WYSIWYG editing interface.

Thanks - to do this I need to convert my movie to flash, which means buying a converter, unless anyone knows of a freeware product?

OK, so now I've finally found a flash converter that is freeware, and have my .swf file, I can play the video through the product pages on my site.

Next question - does anyone know how I can play this through a media player type interface? At the moment, it just opens a window and plays the video, but there are no controls, so you can't pause, stop or start the video. I'd like to have it so that it looks like YouTube or similar videos.

Thanks

Pete

I haven't had time to do it myself yet (2008 project list) but it appears our competition do it by putting their videos on YouTube and linking to there so they play on the page in YT screen.
That way you get the facility, use their bandwidth and expose your products to a massive YT audience.
Sorry, you'll have to suss this out yourself as I can't get round to it for weeks yet.

Morning Pete,

Have never done this before but just done a quick search and there is plenty of info out there on the web. If you are looking at using Windows Media Player then the following maybe of interest

http://www.mioplanet.com/rsc/embed_mediaplayer.htm

Hope this helps!
