Hi, we currently only use Paypal as method of payment for our customers, but there seems to be an increasing amount of abandoned orders with the customers saying that the reason for is due to either their bad experiences with Paypal or their Paypal account temporarily not working.
I've considered using Google Checkout as an alternative to see if it saves some of the abandoned orders, but the Google Checkout button seems massive in comparison to the standard Bluepark checkout button.
Does anyone know if there's a way to reduce the size of the Google Checkout button slightly as I'd prefer Paypal to be the main payment method at the moment but I think the Google Checkout button is so in your face that most customers may just click on this to pay instead of using the standard Bluepark checkout button which would direct the customer to Paypal.

The Google Checkout button can't be edited, however you can make your standard checkout button larger - making it clearer that there's a choice. You could also use a custom "block" on the shopping basket layout, below the basket, explaining the differences between the checkout methods.

Thanks Rich, I know it sounds silly but have do I make the standard checkout button a little bigger? Also, when I try and use Google Checkout it wants me to enter an ssl. Is it worth purchasing an ssl?

Hi John,
I am no expert but if you go into site--->file manager and then templates and select the template you are using for your site and you will see checkout.gif
Right click to save this file to your PC. Make a backup copy and then using something like photoshop change the size of the button and upload (use the browse and upload buttons in file manager)
You will need an SSL certificate if you want to use Google Checkout because it uses level 2 integration with Bluepark to transfer data.

Dave

Do you need a separate SSL certificate for Google, or can our existing Thawte certificate (which we had installed for PayPal Pro) be used?
Pete
The same SSL certificate may be used for all purposes.

Hi John
Did this help reduce abandoned orders? We're doing the opposite. We've started with Google checkout and now we're going to add Paypal.
