Technophobe here, so, I want to be able to offer one bag of dog food @ £4.00 (easy) but, if they buy more than one, postage is free. HELP. I have been into shipping manager - can't find anything and discounts - same again. Can someone help please?

I've been trying to get this to work, and am struggling too. The nearest I can suggest is setting up a discount record with the dog food product attached, then create a volume based discount which give a discount value equal to the postage if more than one item is purchased. What happens if they buy three, I'm not sure (would be OK if you have a capped maximum postage rate, I guess).

For a Free Shipping discount:

Go to the Discount Manager and create a new discount
Keep the Style set to Define Quantity-Based Thresholds
Check the Free Shipping box
Keep the Pricing Code set to Any if you want to assign qualifying products manually, or All if you want the discount to apply to all purchases
Keep the Threshold Type set to Units, and the Discount Type set to PercentageIf you click Save, you will see that a Thresholds tab has appeared. As this discount is for Free Shipping only, set the unit threshold at which the discount should come into effect and set the discount percentage to zero (as you don't want to actually discount the order).

This way, at the threshold you've specified, only the Free Shipping discount will come into play.

If you're assigning products manually, do so via the remaining tabs.

Thanks for having a look Pete and thanks Rich for the answer. I will have a go but don't go away incase I get stuck! This forum is such a good idea.

Nearly there but... the over 1 bag order generates the free shipping but I have set a one bag purchase to add on a £4.00 shipping surcharge. When I have a go at ordering one bag - why does it charge £5.00??? I do my shipping costs by weight throughout the site but there is no weight set for the bag of food?

Confused

Your first threshold is from 0kg to 0.09kg, with a cost of £1. A product with a weight of 0kg qualifies for this threshold. Plus, then, the £4 surcharge.

So how do I just make it a surcharge of £4.00 with no lurking £1.00 added?

Try setting the first threshold from 0.01kg instead of from 0kg.
