View Full Version : trade shop access
Hi
Does anyone know how to set up a sign in process on a page. I have a trade shop on my site & would like it to be only available to genuine businesses, therefore I need it to be a sign in process & must give a legitimate business address/ website . I need to verify this before I will give them a code to view these pages. I hope I've explained this ok.
hi Karen
Why not create a form for trade customers to register and link to this form from any page on your site.you can them ask for as much information as you like.
you can then create the account on bluepark and assign private categories, special discounts etc
Thanks Dave.
I've made the registration page on which I've asked for their details. What do you mean by making an account (sorry not all that clued up with web design)
Plus after They've done the registration I don't want them to have to go thru the registration page each time they access the trade shop how do I set it up that these people will just sign in to gain entry? God I'm not explaining this well. Sorry
Karen,
You are using bluepark??
Don't I feel stupid now. I know what you meant about new account . I didn't read your response properly.:)
I've made the registration form to create the new account & linked this to my site in the relevant place. On receipt of this registration I would like to give the customer a password to gain entry. I've done a login form & tried a dummy test run but it didn't seem to matter what password was input as long as it was numeric (which I opted for) Am I doing something wrong?
Dave's suggestion is correct. You need to encourage your trade customers to sign up here:
http://www.molliedolliedesigns.co.uk/index/action/newaccount/
This is the standard New Account page. If you wish to request more information, including the full name and address, then you can go to Site -> Configuration: General Options and set New Account Form to Full.
You will notice that there is an Additional Form field below this. You can attach any custom form you've created via the Form Manager to the signup process, for example a checkbox for "Trade Customer?" or similar. The submission of the custom form can optionally be sent to you by email.
Once the customer has signed up, and you are happy to grant them trade status, you can edit their user account, via the User Editor, and assign your private category (or a trade discount).
Please Note: This way, the trade customer is using their normal account and password to access the site, with the additional access rights you've granted.
Thanks Richard.
I've added on the new field now.....quite straight forward really!!!(when you know how)
