Email variables

In the language manager there is a section for customising the emails for new orders etc.
These have variables %a, %b etc.

Just wondered if there was a list of what variables are available for each section.

For example
I'd like to be able to start each email with Dear <firstname> <surname>
thankyou for your order <order number> placed with us on <date of the order>.

Also is there anyway of previewing my changes using an order on the system other than having to place an order and wait for the email to arrive?
(wysiwig doesn't fill in the variables so it doesn't give a perfect idea of the final layout)

Unfortunately it's not possible to do this yet, but it may be possible in the future. The %a, %b and %c variables are simply used to insert dynamic content such as the name of the site, the order details and the link back to the site.
