I'm thinking of setting up a free returns service, primarily for our trade customers. Has anyone used Royal Mail Packet Post Returns? Interested to know how reliable it is, how much stuff goes missing, etc.

Are there any other opens I should be looking at?

We use it and it works well for us. Fortunately our returns rate is very low so not too much experience of it but to date we've not had anything go missing (although we always recommend the customer gets a free certificate of posting at the postoffice and if it's particularly valuable, we send a courier to collect instead).

Thanks for that. In the Royal Mail bumph it says you need to do a minimum of 2,000 packets per year. Is this strictly applied, do you know. We currently use packet post for outbound.

Oh maybe it's not packet post returns we use then as we don't have anything like that volume ( a handful a month). We use packet post for outbound and I assumed it was the same for the returns. We have a unique label with a returns address on that we send out to our customers and we're billed monthly for what we've used if that helps!

Does the label have an 'R1' or 'R2' on it as part of the Royal Mail PPI stamp bit?
