Disabling a shipping method for OOS items

Could it be possible to disable a certain shipping method if items in the order are not currently in stock? We have an "express shipping" option but it's really annoying when people buy things that are out of stock and select that option as they get annoyed when the parcel doesn't turn up the next day! It would be great if we could only allow standard shipping when items are not in stock.

This is now possible, tick the Hide if Can't Ship option in the Shipping Editor for your express or "next day" shipping methods. :)

Can this be extended to stop SPO (special order) items from being shipped with the express delivery option? Currently express delivery is still an option for SPO items.

Sorry, I think this one might be a bridge too far. As a software developer, we have to strike a balance between options and useability, and we're constantly aware that too many options can overcomplicate the interface for both new and existing users. It's always worth making the suggestion, however! ;)

We have a need to stop certain shipping methods from being available for drop ship, heavy or special order lines. Currently shipping methods can be for any or for one single shipping method. I am curently trying combinations using exceedingly large weights to force different shipping charges.

It would be helpful if a shipping method could be for any shipping code or to include or exclude a particular shipping code.

Alternatively, or as well as, a weight limit applied to a shipping method as, at present, there is no limit.
