Hi all,

I am new to e-mail marketing, but having found some very useful advice from SitePoint's website today about how to write effective e-mails to customers, am now seeking advice on how to monitor and track the success of such campaigns.

Please can somebody suggest or advise me on how I can do the following:

+ Track the number of e-mails that actually made it into the recipient's Inbox as opposed to their Spam folder;
+ Track the number of e-mails that were actually opened;
+ Track the the number of times a specific link within the e-mail was clicked;
+ Track the number of times an order was placed through the site after clicking a link in the e-mail, etc.

As far as I am aware, Google Analytics is not currently capable of monitoring or tracking the success of e-mail campaigns, so I would greatly appreciate it if anybody could suggest some alternate free software able to do this, if it is at all possible.

Many thanks,

Joe

Hi Joe,

I assume you are aware that for business & enterprise park versions of Bluepark there is an e-mail manager which allows mass marketing campaigns to be ran?

It does not cover all your points but
1) you can see how many e-mails you sent & how many were opened
2) using the affiliate monitor you will be able to see how many hits you have had from a particular link, no of conversation and turnover etc (you will need to set this up first)

There are various other e-mail marketing software packages including groupmail, vertical response etc which give you standard templates to work with to create your campaigns but my advice would be to play around with Bluepark because what you already have (assuming you are not on retail park) is pretty powerful and should do most of what you want.

Thanks for the advice Dave.

I have been using the Email Manager and the ability to see the number of emails viewed compared to the number sent is a very useful feature. I wasn't aware before of what the affiliate manager was able to do, so I will look into this shortly.
