Discounts Cancelling Themselves

I have several products set up with various discounts. I didn't fill in the end date fields on these discounts as they are ongoing promotions but I've noticed that they "end" themselves every few weeks and need to be reactivated.
The obvious way round this is to enter an expiry date well into the future but I was just wondering if this is meant to happen?

I haven't heard any other reports of this happening, even when an expiry date is reached the discount remains "green flagged" (still active) - it simply ceases to have an effect.

If you find that a discount is being deactivated, check that you haven't activated a conflicting discount (one with identical qualifying products). Every product may have only one non-coupon discount associated with it.

When you activate a discount, or change the qualifying products in an active discount, any conflicting discounts are immediately deactivated. I feel sure that this is what you have experienced.
