View Full Version : How to define which products show in a Block item
Hi
I have a Block called "Front Page Items" which I display on the front page, and it shows a list of products which I have no control over. I think they are the latest products I have added to the site, but can find no way of changing thsi.
My question is, how do I edit the Block to allow my choice of items or categories to be displayed?
Thanks
If you're referring to the block entitled "Top Banana!" then it's a renamed "Featured Products" block. You can select which products appear in here by going to the Product Manager and selecting products in the "F G" (Featured Globally) column.
Hi Rich
No, it is one I have set up as a test which is attached to a page calleded Front Page[1] and is not yet live. I think it was a copy of the block that shows recently added items.
Is there a standard block I could copy that allows me to define which products or categories do display?
Sorry, I think the answer here is still the Featured Products block, which you've renamed. It's the only one where you can control exactly which products get put inside. Latest Products shows the most recently added items, Top Sellers shows the best sellers, etc.
Featured Products shows only the products you've ticked in the Product Manager.
Mmm, That Still Does Not Help Me To Edit What Appears In Latest Items. What Does Appear Is What Was Listed First!!
I Bet I Am Missing The Bleedin Obvious Again.......

Rob - latest products show in order of release date (which you enter manually in the product editor under the properties tab). If you have several products with the same release date, then the products are sorted according to how you normally sort products in a category (I think!). In our case, it's alphabetically by product name.
indeed you are right!! As iwas copying a product then editing it to fit the new product, the release date was the same!
oh dear oh dear oh dear.................... i'll get me coat.
