I have added a category 'Gift vouchers' and created 'gift voucher' products £15, £20, etc.

When a customer purchases they are given an option after payment to send to a friend who then receives the code. Works great. However they can also skip this section. I'm lost now how the customer learns the code? It does not appear in the confirmation email sent to the customer. Sure I can look it up if the customer calls but...

Would it be preferable to send the voucher code to the customer if they do not immediately send to a friend or make it viewable in the customer account?

We also have 'Gift Vouchers' and was wondering the same thing.

Although we have yet to sell any, with Xmas approaching I would think this could prove popular.

This feature has been revisited, and I can confirm that it now works as you would expect. Vouchers you "skip" are still available to be assigned to a friend or family member. You can do this via the "Your Account" section after purchasing the vouchers. You're also informed about this via the Order Confirmation email sent directly following the order. :)
