Related Products with Variants

When you select a related product from the tick box underneath the Add to Basket field it will automatically select the default variant and prevent the customer from choosing other variant options.

Is it possible to show the product variants when selected or else prevent it from appearing in this list so that it only shows up on the page where the option 'show related and continue shopping' has been chosen?

When you add a related product via the Product Editor, there is a checkbox called Addable which causes the product to appear in the list on the product detail page. If you uncheck this box, the product will not appear in the list. It will, however, still appear in the Related Products block.
