View Full Version : Any way to hold back on taking payment until dispatch?
I would like to be able to only take a customer's money once I have confirmed that stock is available, and I am able to dispatch (this is particularly applicable where the items get shipped straight from the manufacturer/importer, and I have no control over stock levels).
Is this possible already, or a potential future feature?
Pete
Hi Pete,
You can do this using Protx Deferred payment method. Don't know about any other payment methods.
Paul.

Thanks Paul. I use PayPal Pro - I'll look into it. What is your experience like using Protx, and are the charges reasonable?
Pete
I am very pleased with Protx. seamless and very cost effective combined with my HSBC merchant account. They also had a major server update recently - which went badly! - so shouldn't be updating again for some time.

You can do this already. Go to Site -> Configuration: PayPal Payments Pro and change the Transaction Type to either Delayed Capture or Delayed Capture if Can't Ship.

If I change the option to Delayed Capture if Can't Ship then I presume this will only stop payment processing if I have no stock? At the moment I don't allow customers to place an order if there is no stock anyway.
I presume the solution is to change to Delayed Capture so that all payments have to be triggered by me? How do I then capture the payment later if I have delayed it?

I use delayred capture with paypal pro - it adds another button on the order page to type an ammount of money to take and then you click save. It's up to you whether you do it in the bluepark system or by logging into paypal (you have 30 days to take the payment I believe) I do it in the order screen of bluepark, it's very simple.

I'm using PayPal Pro, and it sounds like this will do the trick. Thanks David.
