Is it possible to edit the 'Sign In' page so that more information can be gathered from the user? I'd like to be able to make their name and company a required field.

Thanks

I'm not sure if this is what you're looking for, but what you can do is alter the New Account page (when signing up for the first time) to ask for more information.

Go to Site -> Configuration: General Options and have a look at the New Account Form field. It's set to Quick by default, but setting it to Full will required that the name and address fields are filled in as well. The company name is never a required field though, I'm afraid.

The Full form is only shown if you're creating a new account outside of the Checkout process, the reason being that all of the required questions are requested on the first page of the Checkout process.

Finally, it's worth mentioning that you can also "attach" an Additional Form to the New Account page, i.e. any form that you've created via the Form Manager. The results can be saved in the Admin Comments field for each user.

Thanks Rich

This was exactly what I was looking for - it certainly helps if you know where to look. I worry about experimenting and changing something and then not being able to remember what I changed!

How to I now make the results of my newly inserted form into the 'Admin Comments' field?

Regards

Colin

This is probably happening by default, the Additional Form Action field determines what is done with the info from the added form. Saving as comments is the default action.

Hi Again

I guess I'm looking in the wrong place, but can the following text be accessed so that it can be edited?

"Please sign in or create a new account
Signing in will allow you to place orders quickly and easily. Passwords are case-sensitive."

Thanks Again

Yes it can. You need to go to site---->language editor. First you'll need to copy the copy the "stock English" and then go into the new language you've created and click on the "sign in" link at the top of the page. You can then change the words to whatever you want, save it and go back to the language manager menu. You then need to set your new language "live" by clicking the "make default" button on the far left.
