Assigning discount to user

I cannot seem to apply a discount to a customer/user.

I have a discount set up in the discount manager which is inactive as required per the user guide. However when i go into a user account the discount is not available to assign to the user. Indeed no discounts are available.

I am trying to assign a specific discount code to a user so they will automatically receive the discount whenever they shop.

We use discount manager a lot with owner clubs etc and the discount has to be active.

Thanks Martin, I have some active and some inactive discounts but none of them are available in the user editor/discounts tab. Is that where you assign the discount?

The way we do it is to create a discount code which is then given to the person/group to use on at checkout.

I have solved it now. It was the fact I had a code in the coupon code box which I have now removed.
