    Question Shipping by weight...

We ship by the weight bands below and I am trying to set this up in "Shipping Manager > Thresholds"

    Upto 500g = £2.95
    501g - 1kg = £3.95

    1kg - 25kg = £5.95

The first two bands go via Royal Mail and the later via courier.

I need a maximum weight of 25kg to be assigned as this will come into play with free shipping later

When entering this into Shipping Manager > Thresholds I get the following values

    0.5 to 0.99 kg = £2.95
    1 to 24.99 kg = £3.95
    25 to + = £5.95

Which is wrong, how can I achieve what I want.

OK....ignoring my obvious mistake of starting at 0.5 your suggestion didnt work. I now have

    From 0 to 0.491
    From 0.501 to 1
    From 1.01 to 25
    From 25.01 to +

The last three seem OK but not sure where it is getting the 0.491 figure from ??

I assume I can start from 0 or does it have to be 0.01g

You can't have 3 decimal places - try 2 decimal places.

I think you can start at 0 but have never tried it.... even with our very light product we would still put something in there that is lower than the very lightest weight we would ever ship. I too don't know where the 0.491 comes from. I've just tried it myself and the system does generate 0.491 as the top of that threshold when it should be 0.500 - perhaps someone else has the answer to that one.

Hmm....so I cant enter the range I want then.

Tried it with two decimal places and got this

    From 0 to 0.49
    From .5 to 1
    Blah
    Blah

Again the top one is wrong.....its taken 10 grams off for some reason ?

Ignore the "To" column, it doesn't technically need to be there - it's just an indicator which is approximated to 2 decimal places.

The most important column is the "From" column.

    If you enter "From":

    0
    0.5
    1
    25

Anything under 0.5kg (or 500g) will be charged at the rate below (even if it's just 1g under). In technical terms, the system checks each "From" figure in reverse order (highest to lowest) and tests whether the combined weight of the order equals or exceeds it.

For your final threshold, 25kg, you can set the cost to zero and tick the Prevent Free Shipping option.

    Ok, one more thing....

If someone spends over £60 we give free shipping upto 25kg. then we charge £5.95 for every additional 25kg. How would I achieve this ?

I think you would need to set up a different shipping method for weights over 25kg, you couldn't do all of that within one shipping method. For once, however, I may not be the best person to answer this!

You need to set up 2 Shipping Methods.

    Shipping Method 1 - VALUE

    Properties

Prevent Free Shipping - TICK ** Important **

    Countries

    UK

    Thresholds

From 0.01 To 60.00 Amount £10.00 (or whatever you charge)

    From 60.01 To + Amount £0.00

    Shipping Method 2 - WEIGHT

    Properties

Prevent Free Shipping - TICK ** Important **

    Countries

    UK

    Thresholds

    From 0.01 To 25.00 Amount £0.00

    From 25.01 To 50.00 Amount £5.95

    From 50.01 To + Amount £11.90

Important: All your products must have weights. Products must all have the same shipping code e.g. global or "A" or whatever.

Many thanks Red...I assume the above methods are as well as the one I already have setup for normal deliveries. So I would end up with three shipping Methods in total.

Oh, and i am now a fully paid up Bluepark owner, so expect lots more questions :-)

    Which one is that?

    0.5 to 0.99 kg = £2.95
    1 to 24.99 kg = £3.95
    25 to + = £5.95

I will double check, but you don't need 3 methods. You can't have 2 conflicting weight methods.

Hmm, Ok this is how my shipping is set up at the mo on my current site.

    Upto 500g £2.95
    501 to 1kg £3.95
    1kg - 25kg £5.95

Then there is an additional £5.95 for every subsequent 25kg.

On top of this if a customer spends £60 they get free delivery. Again this is upto 25kg and every additional 25kg is charged as above.

So what would be the best way for me to replicate this in Bluepark

    Hope that make sense

Sorry my method doesn't work with these lower weight bands as well. It's assuming you don't have any product or total products that will weigh under 25kg before their (total) price exceeds £60.

By UNTICKING the Prevent Free Shipping on the Value Method, the choice of Free Shipping appears after £60 but remains there even when the weight exceeds £25 kg.

I think it is because the Weight method is always satisfied.

So may be you can't combined these methods after all.

    Chubster

What are you selling? Is anything ever going to reach 25kg?

What is the likely weight of an order costing less than £60?

I have, for some time, felt that the dual usage of "Prevent free shipping" might be a little restrictive (and also confusing, as it's something of a "workaround").

For this reason, there is now an additional way to exempt a threshold from being used while also allowing free shipping on the shipping method. Use the new "Invalidate last threshold" checkbox on the Thresholds tab.

This doesn't alter the existing behaviour of "Prevent free shipping" in any way, so there is no need for existing shipping methods to be adapted.

Rich does this mean that I can say set free shipping for orders over say £60 and by ticking the invalidate last threshold button it will give a free shipping using our standard delivery option for all orders over the threshold which in this case is £60?

    Does that make sense?
