Telephone Orders - Feature Request

This subject has been brought up before but with the new 'Guest Checkout' feature added it has opened my mind to the old chestnut.

Whilst the 'Guest Checkout' is a good idea we would like this limited to logged in admin users only for placing telephone orders.

Also, we would REALLY like to have the ability to edit prices in the basket page and adjust the shipping cost too as necessary. We get it all the time where customer wants a larger than normal quantity but wants a special price etc. etc.

As it stands we have to create special discount codes and attatch these - all a bit of a faff and leaves the discount code table very messy.

Being able to change prices whilst doing telephone orders would be fantastic.

In addition it would be really good if you could change the product prices in the shoppers basket. Sometimes via phone or shoptalk a shopper will ask if we can improve on prices or price match and being able to go into their basket and alter the prices and then ask them to refresh the basket to see the amended prices would be brilliant.

It maybe a fluke as it's only one day but the 'Guest Checkout' has resulted in 16% less drop out so far! if this is sustained it will be the most profitable BP update so far.

Wow that's pretty impressive. Be interested to see the figure over a longer period but very encouraging so far!

Wow, I hope that is sustained - might have to try it myself and see!

Sorry, good as it maybe Linnworks would be of no use to us, it would just add to my integration woes - done simply in Bluepark would fit the bill 100% for us.

I would also like to see this feature - we have tens of thousands of "old" leaflets floating around hospitals with different pricing and postage charges, it would be very useful to be able to amend prices within a basket or zero postage charges for orders using the old leaflets.

A MOTO system with prices editable "on the fly" is no small task as this functionality doesn't currently exist anywhere in the system. It's one for the list for future consideration, however, and if there's a way it will be done.

Yes, this would be a much needed update, we take a lot of telephone orders and being able to edit prices 'in basket' would save a lot of time setting up discount codes. Usually we have to set up a discount while the customer is on the phone and this makes the customer experience a much more long winded affair. Also being able to use the guest checkout without the need for 3D secure would also be nice as this would speed up the whole telephone ordering system.

Not everybody uses Linnworks, we for one would have absolutely no use for Linnworks! In fact I think there are actually very few Linnworks users on here, surely it is better to amend the Bluepark system so that the vast majority benefit not a few users of Linnworks!

Agreed. I am desperate for a proper MOTO ordering system, would make our lives SO much easier as we often need to do a lot of editing of orders. As much as I adore BP, this really is a necessary update IMO

I agree the price amendment is a big change, but having a MOTO button which creates a Remote Control session without first having to set up a new user would be a great first step.

The price change would be (dare I say) valuable option. i.e. one that we would certainly pay for.

This has been implemented:

We have upgraded the Remote Control feature so that it can now be used to access the site on behalf of ANY site user, whether they have a user account or not. For this reason, new Remote Control icons are now presented on the Site Statistics page for users currently browsing the site.

Using the Remote Control feature now gives you the power to alter prices directly in the customer's Shopping Basket. Simply click the price to change it, and clear the edited value to revert to the original value. The customer will see the price you have set on their screen when they refresh the page. This functionality extends to the order editing facility.

There is also an additional Remote Control icon on the Home page of the Admin Console for MOTO (Mail Order / Telephone Order) payments. This will start a new user session and enable the Guest Checkout feature. The email address field will automatically be populated with a default value of "moto@" followed by your domain name, this can be overwritten if necessary when entering the customer's details.

3D Secure is disabled by default when using Remote Control. Your Remote Control session now ends automatically when an order is successfully placed or edited.

This sounds amazing, thank you, I've not had a play yet but wanted to ask a quick question - is 3D secure disabled no matter what payment gateway you use? I used SecureTrading and didn't think it was possible to turn off 3D secure without using their MOTO virtual terminal into which we then need to input name and address and order details again each time we take a telephone order.

I've just had a bit of a play (but not got as far as payments yet). I have another question - is it possible to override the delivery charge? If not then a workaround would be to reduce the cost of the product by the amount of the delivery but just wondered if I was missing something.

Sorry Rich another question - if you go through the moto does it always default to guest checkout? We (purposely) still have automatic account creation set up and what we would want is any telephone orders to still have an account created automatically. If we change the email address from the defaulted moto@ to a person's proper email address so that they still gain loyalty points etc would this work or is there no way to over ride the default guest setting?
