Maestro / 3D secure issues

Hello

I had someone just trying to pay with Maestro. I don't have 3D secure on and I use PayPal Pro as my payment gateway. She was unable to pay and said there was an error code regarding 3D secure.

any ideas? Just wondering if you have to have 3D secure switched on for Maestro or something.

Yes MasterCard issued a rule a long while ago which states all Maestro cards MUST have a full 3D Secure Authentication in order for the transaction to be authorised

Thanks - that is probably why I have quite a few non completed payments - I have disabled Maestro.

Do others use 3D or not? I personally don't like it.

I guess it depends on what you're selling. If I had a stolen credit card, yours is not the first web-site I'd be visiting

I feel that 3D is a necessary evil these days. Our previous provider could not activate 3D secure and is one of the major reasons we moved. We lost so many orders because we could not accept Maestro and received several angry e-mails from customers asking why couldn't they use their Maestro card.
