You can switch the lightbox preview off by going to Users>Admin Users>Your User Name>Scroll down to Admin Panel Personalisation>View Site Previews In>Change from Lightbox to New Tab

Don't use random numbers for GTIN (barcodes) but you can for MPN. However, have a search for "Google Merchant Center Identifier Exists" and that should point you in the right direction.
