    Default Returning Customers Forgotten Password

    We are only evaluating at the moment but have a major concern regarding returning users forgetting their passwords - the system does not seem to be performing as I would expect.

    Basic scenario, a returning user does not realise they are registered and tries to check out.

    If an existing email address is used the next screen is an account preparation screen asking customer to sign in or create a new account. But by definition they already have an account so can this screen say "you are an account holder please sign in" with the "forgotten password?" link there as well?

    If the customer is checking out as a guest user and enters an email address that's already registered, then they are shown the standard Sign In page but with the "I am a returning customer" option selected, and their email address populated in the relevant field. The "Forgotten your password?" link is displayed below the password field.

    In addition, following on from your comments, the line of text reading "The e-mail address you have specified already exists in our records" is also used on the page.

    Hi, thanks for that change. Can this page be customised? Is there any need for any of the following:

    Please sign in or create an account
    Signing in will allow you to place orders quickly and easily. Passwords are case-sensitive.
    I am a new customer
    I am a returning customer

    Can it just say: "Please Sign in" followed by your new message.
