Default Problem with variant setting and stock levels

    Hi there

It may be very obvious but for some reason I can't find a way to stop customers buying more stock than we have for variant items. The settings for other products which do not have any variants are fine and we have found how to limit numbers ordered but alas can't find the same for those with different variants.

Any help would be gratefully received.

    Many thanks
    Laura

Are you putting stock in the master product? that's the only time I can recall variants being order with no stock (always provided you have set no stock to refuse orders)

    John thanks for your reply.

Had another look and worked out that we hadn't selected 'prevent back orders' so now that we've changed that all should be ok
