Default Rise in NatWest bank charges

Just wondered if any of you with a NatWest business account had picked up on their massive rise in monthly bank charges coming into effect today? Ours have risen by 500%! Time to look elsewhere perhaps.

    Yes mines around 800%

As a member of the FSB we can get free business banking with the Co-op so I'm going to look into that after Xmas.

Glad it's not just us! Looks like they've started charging 35p for every automated debit/credit, whereas there was no charge for these in the past. Hope they are braced for a lot of flack about this. Can't see how they can justify it.

Yes all our fees have gone up. Things which we were getting free we are now being charged 30p per transaction. The fee for paying in cheques (which we do weekly) has risen from 33p to 60p each !

Im with HSBC, business banking and got a surprising letter from them actually DECREASING their charges! Including for payments in and out, cheques, debits, credits overdraft etc. Was a very welcome change, as in previous years, they were going up each time. They have a couple of different Business Banking accounts - take a look, or pop into see one of the business managers, and see what they can offer

I have two business accounts one with HSBC and they have been great, also one with Metro. Metro are a really good modern bank as they are open late at night and at the weekends (growing quite quickly and opening in many towns), they offer free banking if you have a balance of 5000. Haven't had any letters from either of them about increases.

    Good luck.

Thankfully we changed from NatWest after some major issues with them a year or so ago. Moved to Barclays and what a positive change that has been for us. Their charges are significantly less and their telephone banking and business support team have been great.
