Cool New site: "Nerf Herder" - A Star Wars games store - Suggestions please

    Hi,

Please find below our new website, running since December:

    https://www.nerfherder.co.uk

As you can see it's pretty basic - we just took the Tools template, stuck a starry banner at the top, tweaked a few colours, and added the products. And as for the homepage, we had no idea what to do with that so just stuck some banners on it pointing to the product pages, thinking we'd do that properly at a later date but haven't quite figured out what to do with it (not that home pages really seem that important any more).

So any comments or suggestions would be welcomed.

    Hi,

Personally I think it's still nice to have a good looking home page as it's effectively the 'window' to your shop , but of course it's no longer the default landing page it used to be now that Google, Bing etc. direct you to the most relevant page these days. So with this in mind, I would pay particular attention to the header and footer as these are the two constants no matter what page you land on.

As your site stands at the moment (I'm viewing on my 15.6" laptop), the background image used on the header is pushing the page to far to the right creating scroll-bars and also the nav bar is going off of the page too. Could you not consolidate some of these into a drop-down instead?

Also, with regard to the colours I'd swap the orange for yellow as I'd associate this more with Star Wars. Finally, have a look on the official website for ideas: www.starwars.com - the footer looks good for example IMO!!

    Mike

1366 x 768 - (the recommended setting for this HP laptop) . Scale/layout is set to the default 100%.
