I implemented it straight away, I have been looking forward to it's arrival since it should help convert more mobile sales. Unfortunately there was a bug initially which Rich quickly corrected.

However the usefulness of Apple Pay and G Pay have not been fully realised in my opinion.

In other eCommerce solutions I see the Apple Pay button on the add to basket screen as an express checkout method, same as you would see the PayPal button, this saves the user completing all of the checkout forms.

However the Bluepark integration still takes you through standard checkout first and then presents Apple Pay afterwards, which defeats the point somewhat.

So I'm a little disappointed and have removed the integration.

The bug was fixed straight away, basically it was not marking the order as paid and completed, so that works now.

I don't think they have any plans to fix the functionality, I did mention to BP that it would be of great benefit for it to work as an express checkout, but I have no idea if it will be implemented, I certainly didn't get any feedback to suggest it would be looked at again.

Yes it seems to be a shame that you cannot see the option at checkout, the point is speedy checkout isn't it? Perhaps BP did it this way so that delivery addresses etc can be checked by the customer in case its different to what may be set up in apple pay? Not exactly sure how it works.

Given a good majority of ours can be sent to a work address i haven't an issue with the proper checkout being first.

Am more that people trust apple pay as a payment mode.

Yes that might be why BP decided to implement it that way, although the PayPal Express method works fine and skips the regular checkout. The best bet is to set Apple Pay live temporarily and do a test transaction, then you can see the results in Stripe, that's what I did.

With Apple Pay the transactions don't seem to go through the normal checks that Stripe do, ie AVS checks and 3D Secure, so you have no way to verify how trustworthy the payment is, which also did put me off a bit, but that's just the way Apple Pay works I guess.

PayPal works slightly differently. It provides an authorisation before checking out, and returns customer information, but it doesn't capture the payment. It provides a token which allows us to capture the payment later, when the customer confirms the order at the end of the checkout process.

The Apple Pay payment is taken instantly, so before checkout is attempted, and it doesn't return enough information for us to create a proper Bluepark order. We've had a "checkout replacement" system before, back when Google Checkout was available, and it caused more problems than it solved.

I think this integration is still very worthwhile, it allows customers on their phones to pay without having to retrieve their card details.
