    Default Problems with Windows?

Just wondering if anybody else is having problems with Windows today? Unable to open apps, freezing screen, etc. I'm aware of recent updates, so maybe that's the problem.

I get this about once a week. Usually after a windows update has been force upon my PC. A reboot is required to finish installaing and then its good to go again (until the next time)

A Windows update could very well be the culprit, but another thing this behaviour can be linked to is a failing hard drive. I'd recommend downloading and running 'Crystal Disk Info' as this gives you a report of your hard drives health - you can download the portable version here: https://portableapps.com/apps/utilit...kinfo_portable

If it comes back as OK, then next I'd run Windows built-in 'System File Checker' which checks for corrupt files and if it finds any attempts to fix them . Type CMD into Windows search bar and when you see 'Command Promt' right click and select 'Run as administrator' - now type in: sfc /scannow and hit enter.

If you still don't have any joy then let me know and I'll help you with the next steps to try.

Thanks Mike, that's very helpful. I'll check those out.
