Import Products: FAQ
Use an FTP client, or the File Manager, and upload your Large images to the products/large directory. This is the "path" to the images, the directory in which the system expects to see the Large images used for the Zoom function on the product detail page.
Because the Large images are already located within the correct directory, there is no need to specify the full path in the CSV import file. If the filename is image.jpg then you can enter just the filename in the Large image column.
Once the largest image is taken care of, the subsequent images are the Main image (displayed on the product detail page), the Thumbnail image (displayed on the product list pages), and the Basket image (the smallest image).
As before, the path can be excluded if the images are located in the correct directories. These are products for the Main image, products/thumbnails for the Thumbnail image, and products/basket for the Basket image.
OR - if you would prefer that the smaller images were generated automatically, from the larger image, then you could use a special "command" in the respective columns for each size. You could, for example, put in create(200,200) for the Main image, create(100,100) for the Thumbnail image, and create(50,50) for the Basket image. These commands take the place of the filenames.
It is also possible to enter a full URL to a remotely hosted image, the image will be downloaded and saved locally.
Additional images can be imported via the CSV import file by appending them after the default images, separated by semicolons. For example, the Large image column could contain image.jpg; additional.jpg and the Main image column could contain create(200,200) to generate resized versions.
Another way to do this is to simply name the additional image in the same way as the Main image. Just add "", "", "", "" or "" to the end of the filename, such as:
You can assign up to five additional images per product. There are no Thumbnail or Basket versions of additional images.
