Import Products

Properties

The Properties tab basically allows you to map any or all of the available product fields to specific columns in your CSV file. These import templates may be saved and used again. Possible import templates range from complete product imports to simple stock uploads.

The product SKU is always required. Every other field is optional. The product title is required if you are creating new products (SKUs not currently in the product database). Along with the familiar fields is a DELETE field with can be used to mass delete particular products, the database can also be fully wiped before commencing the import. The Select All and Deselect All buttons make the task of field selection easier. When you are ready, simply Upload the CSV file from your local hard disk to begin the process.

By default, if a product SKU being imported does not currently exist, and a title is present, a new product will be created within the product database. If the product SKU relates to an existing product or Variant, the other data being imported is used to update that product or Variant unless this behaviour is specifically disabled on the Import Options tab.

Import Options

You are able to specify which products are to be affected by the import, either via all Import Codes or a combination of Import Codes.

The CSV Delimiter may be specified as a comma or a tab character. The CSV Enclosure is the character used to frame strings which include the Delimiter. If the first row of the CSV file contains column headings, it can be optionally ignored. Existing products can also be ignored, meaning that only new product SKUs will be processed. If some of your existing SKUs contain leading zeros, and your CSV file has had them stripped, the import can be tailored to ignore leading zeros in existing SKUs.

You are able to specify that Variant rows should update the parent product's values where such values are using inheritance. Special Order (SPO) products may be protected from having their status removed as a result of importing numeric stock values. Stock values being imported may be added to existing stock values for the purpose of booking in new stock. URL Text can be generated using the product title, automating the task of populating this field.
